'Hospital on Wheels' comes to the aid of the disabled in Odisha
While 718 patients got registered for orthopaedic camp, 1698 were registered in ENT and Dental camps. While 186 patients registered for the plastic surgery camp, 1707 sought help at the eye camp. Surgical operations were performed in 538 cases and first aid treatment was provided to 2918 people in orthopaedic, ENT, Dental and Eye camps. Hearing aids were provided to 162 people while 94 were given Aids and Appliances like Tri-Cycles, Wheel Chairs and Crutches. Mr. Paramod Kumar Mohanty, District Collector of Jajpur, was the Chief Guest in the valedictory function of the Lifeline Express. Mr. Mohanty appreciated Tata Steel’s efforts for providing better healthcare facilities to the rural areas of the state. Mr. Ranjeet Kumar Mohanty, ADM, Kalinganagar said that Tata Steel’s CSR activities are worth replication for other companies. Mr. Hridayeshwar Jha, Vice-President (Odisha Project), Tata Steel thanked the people for reiterating their faith on Tata Steel. Mr. Rajesh Chintak, Chief Resident Executive (CRE), Tata Steel, Odisha, Mr. AB Tripathy, former DGP, Mr. Biren Ramesh Bhuta, Chief, CSS graced the occasion. This initiative aimed at providing free surgical interventions in cases of post-polio deformities, hearing disorders, dental and eye problems. It was organised in association with Impact India Foundation, Government of Odisha, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Indian Railways. Prior to this, Tata Steel has hosted Lifeline Express in five locations in Odisha, namely Gopalpur, Daitari, Jajpur Road, Meramundali and Joda. The activity and preliminary screening of Lifeline Express was initiated in November 2010 in the District Headquarter Hospital at Jajpur Town, Area Hospitals at Jajpur Road and Gopalpur and various Community Health Centres (CHCs). Tata Steel, with its continued commitment towards social cause, has been a prime collaborator with the Impact India Foundation for the Lifeline Express
